Basketball Recap: Kalyn Bailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westview over Lincoln North Star

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Westview can now relate to. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln North Star Navigators. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly five points.

Westview lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kalyn Bailey, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Cardy King was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Westview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Leading Lincoln North Star to victory were Ani Leu and Joyce Johnson. Leu shot 67% from the field on her way to 18 points and three steals, while Johnson posted 13 points and five assists. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Westview's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Lincoln North Star, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln North Star, they have already played their next match, a 34-28 defeat against Millard West on the 7th.
