Baseball Recap: Macarthur Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

MacArthur won against Winn last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Everything went the Brahmas' way against the Southwest Legacy Titans as they made off with a 10-0 victory. With that win, the Brahmas brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Korey Alston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. MacArthur is undefeated when Alston allows three or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Alston was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, MacArthur let Diego Morillo and Cohen Mayfield run wild. Morillo scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Mayfield scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Mayfield has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was J.T. Gray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

MacArthur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

MacArthur is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. MacArthur will face off against rival McCollum at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy is set to take on their familiar foe Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
