Basketball Preview: Lehi Pioneers vs. Westlake Thunder

The Lehi Pioneers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Westlake Thunder at 12:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lehi proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 23) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past American Fork 52-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lehi.

Addy Scrivner was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Hill, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, Westlake strolled past the Falcons with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 57-39. With that victory, Westlake brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Westlake had a senior duo take command as Austyn Feller scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and Chloe Jensen scored 16 points along with five assists. Isley Sauvao was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine rebounds.

Lehi is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Westlake, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lehi have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've made 37.3% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Lehi didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Thunder in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. Does Lehi have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
