Softball Recap: Palm Desert Takes a Loss

Palm Desert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 19-18 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rancho Mirage Rattlers. Even if the Aztecs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Palm Desert got a massive performance out of Isabella Gonzalez, who went 4-for-6 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Lopez-Fuentes, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one double.

Even though they lost, Palm Desert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Palm Desert's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Rancho Mirage, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

While Palm Desert had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
