Softball Recap: Bay Rockets vs. Rocky River Pirates
Bay extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They came up short against the Rocky River Pirates, falling 17-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rockets have suffered against the Pirates since April 27, 2021.
As for Rocky River, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Rocky River's part, Reagan Kane was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Kane was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Maggie Heigle was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Carly Ewing also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
