Basketball Recap: Saint Francis Catholic Sets Scoring Season-High Against Union County

Saint Francis Catholic scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Union County Fightin' Tigers 45-40. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fightin' Tigers earlier this season, when they won 26-18.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Allie Dey, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Dey has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Schoster, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Union County was led to victory by Heaven Scott and Faith Sirmones. Scott posted 18 points, while Sirmones scored ten points. Those ten points gave Sirmones a new career-high.

Saint Francis Catholic dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Union County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-15.

Saint Francis Catholic will take on St. Joseph Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County has already played their next contest, a 42-41 win against Hamilton County on the 31st.
