Baseball Recap: Juan Diego Catholic Find Success

With a playoff win on the line, Juan Diego Catholic rose to the challenge on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Stansbury Stallions 8-6. This was a revenge game for the Soaring Eagle: when they faced off against the Stallions on Friday, they had to take a 10-0 defeat.

Castle Huggard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Juan Diego Catholic got a big performance out of Tage McKinley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. The Soaring Eagle are undefeated when McKinley posts two or more runs, but 6-13 otherwise. Beckham Black was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Juan Diego Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stansbury struck out seven times.

Juan Diego Catholic now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Stansbury, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.

As of now, neither Juan Diego Catholic nor the Stallions have any future games scheduled.
