Softball Recap: Ovid-Elsie Gets the Win

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Ovid-Elsie brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They never let the Chesaning Indians get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 on Thursday.

Audrie VanDeusen was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Haley McClung was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Olyvia Coon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Ovid-Elsie's victory bumped their record up to 11-15-1. As for Chesaning, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ovid-Elsie will head out to face off against Byron at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chesaning, they will face off against St. Louis at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
