Basketball Game Recap: Mendon Hornets vs. Burr Oak Bobcats

Burr Oak came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Mendon, but Ryder Gorham wouldn't allow it. The Mendon Hornets took down the Burr Oak Bobcats 54-38 on Friday thanks in part to Gorham, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mendon's points.

Another player making a difference was Owen Gorham, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

Despite the loss, Burr Oak saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braxton Boyles went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks set a new season-high mark for Boyles. The team also got some help courtesy of Camrin Hagen, who posted seven points.

Mendon picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Burr Oak, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Mendon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-44 win against Hillsdale Academy on the 18th. As for Burr Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-40 loss against St. Philip Catholic Central on the 22nd.
