It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sonoma Valley can now relate to. They fell 34-28 to the St. Helena Saints on Friday. The Dragons' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Sonoma Valley still got an impressive performance from Cayden Waldrop, who rushed for 197 yards and a pair of TDs. Waldrop is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dalan Lopata, who threw for 173 yards and one touchdown.

Sonoma Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chuy Ordaz and Angelo Tellez.

St. Helena's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhony Covarrubias, who rushed for 117 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 212 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Those 117 rushing yards gave Covarrubias a new career-high. Dean Sommer was in the mix too, providing St. Helena with two touchdowns.

Sonoma Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for St. Helena, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Sonoma Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Helena, they will be playing at home against Bishop O'Dowd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
