Basketball Game Preview: Union Local Jets vs. Martins Ferry Purple Riders

The Union Local Jets will square off against the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Local knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Martins Ferry likes a good challenge.

Union Local is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 67-55 victory over Sandy Valley. Given the Jets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Cardinals are ranked 559th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Martins Ferry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Morgan by a score of 49-39 on Saturday.

Union Local's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Martins Ferry, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
