Basketball Recap: Hillsdale Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rittman last Saturday, Hillsdale came back down to earth. The Hillsdale Falcons came up short against the Lucas Cubs on Wednesday, falling 57-32. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leading Lucas to victory were Katie Griffey and Riley Trumpower. Griffey went 10 of 17 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Trumpower almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Trumpower has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Olivia Brown was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten boards and seven steals.

Hillsdale's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Lucas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Hillsdale won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dalton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lucas, they will challenge Crestline at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lucas is facing Crestline at the right time seeing as Crestline is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
