Baseball Recap: Marion Gets the Win

Marion lost to Inman on Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Inman Teutons 11-10.

Jameson Looper made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Marion: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kadon Mercer, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marion has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Inman, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Marion will face off against Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Inman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sedgwick on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something the Inman Teutons surely won't give up without a fight.
