League recap: Drake/Anamoose enters state Top 25 with win

9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) recap Oct. 23, 2012

Drake/Anamoose was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after a bye. The Raiders came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Towner-Granville-Upham extended the longest winning streak in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this week by beating Shiloh Christian, 34-6. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.

North Star/Starkweather's dynamic duo of Jacob Hagler and Daniel Grande proved tough for Beach to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hagler threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns and Grande had 111 yards receiving. Alex Weston helped North Star/Starkweather's passing attack out by catching six balls for 95 yards.

Eli Luna was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 182 yards as Towner-Granville-Upham beat the Buccaneers. Ridge Bachmeier also contributed to the rushing game with 93 yards on the ground.

North Star/Starkweather's Hagler and Grande have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hagler has thrown for 2060 yards this season, while Grande, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 48 catches for 931 yards. Drake/Anamoose's Darin McClintock leads the league in rushing yards with 1656.

The marquee game in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this week will be the clash between Surrey and Scott Thorson's team. The Mustangs comes into the matchup ranked 12th in the state, while the Titans ranks fourth.

Bryan Haugen's team's Grande is only 69 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the Divide County.

Adam Undlin has rushed for 976 yards on 171 carries so far this year.

Towner-Granville-Upham took down the Skyhawks 34-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Luna threw for 69 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
