Columbiana has gone 8-2 against United recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Clippers will head out to challenge the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Columbiana has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while United will arrive with six straight wins.
Columbiana fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Western Reserve on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 9-8. Clippers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Blue Devils since on Saturday.

Max Conway stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Columbiana is 7-1 when Conway posts two or more runs, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Young, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask United). Everything went their way against Wellsville on Friday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. Considering the Golden Eagles have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Quentin Taylor made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Wyatt Swanson was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Tyler Wood also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
United always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.
United's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Columbiana, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbiana has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Columbiana's way against United in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Columbiana made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Clippers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
