Volleyball Recap: Clever Comes Up Short

Clever was the 3-1 winner over Mt. Vernon when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Jays came up short against the Mountaineers on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Blue Jays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clever took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Addy Hoover and Lauren Bos, who picked up seven kills apiece. Hoover really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 12. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Clever now has a losing record of 4-5-2. As for Mt. Vernon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2-1.

Clever will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on El Dorado Springs at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Mt. Vernon, they will face off against Logan-Rogersville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
