Football Recap: Lapel Bulldogs vs. Frankton Eagles

Lapel lost to Frankton back in August of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Lapel Bulldogs took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 40-13 victory over the Frankton Eagles. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Eagles are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lapel to victory were Devin Craig and Rylie Hudson. Craig threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.9 yards per attempt, while Hudson picked up 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Brice Burress also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.

Lapel's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Reed Hamilton and Mason Page. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lapel was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 476 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankton only gained 272.

Despite the loss, Frankton still got an impressive performance from Nate Luzadder, who rushed for 144 yards. With that strong performance, Luzadder is now averaging an impressive 106 rushing yards per game.

The win made it two in a row for Lapel and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Frankton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lapel will head out to challenge Shenandoah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games. As for Frankton, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
