There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Welcome
Say hello to Randolph: the team broke into the power rankings at the 24th position after its notable last-week performance. It took its game against Morris Hills by a confident 37 - 7 score. Randolph did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
Can't Touch This
Long Branch's 34 - 0 win over Manalapan last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Jermaine Corbett. Corbett rushed for 321 yards and two touchdowns. That performance made Corbett one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between DePaul Catholic (6th in the power rankings) and Don Bosco Prep (8th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. DePaul Catholic has to be hurting after a devastating 59 - 28 defeat at the hands of Don Bosco Prep. The loss came about despite a quality game from senior Taquan Roberson, who threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between St. Joseph Regional (3rd in the power rankings) and St. Peter's Prep (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. St. Peter's Prep and St. Joseph Regional both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (St. Peter's Prep with five and St. Joseph Regional with four), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
