Softball Recap: Cromwell Panthers vs. Haddam-Killingworth Cougars

Cromwell had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it five. They lost 15-4 to the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Haddam-Killingworth, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Considering they have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Haddam-Killingworth's part, Emma Giaccone made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Giaccone has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Grace Natanzon was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Grace LaConte was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
