Basketball Recap: Beauregard Comes Up Short

Beauregard and Valley squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Beauregard had to settle for second. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Rams. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost eight in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Weaver, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Weaver a new career-high in blocks. Azerion Jennings was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Beauregard's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Valley, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-12.

Beauregard and Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Beauregard will challenge Sylacauga at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday down 353 places (421 vs. 68). Similarly, Valley (ranked 254th) will meet Briarwood Christian (ranked 79th) at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
