Baseball Game Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Waskom Wildcats

For the second straight game, Elysian Fields will face off against Waskom. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elysian Fields is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Elysian Fields barely beat Waskom the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

John Beavers was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elysian Fields got a massive performance out of Spencer Scott, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Scott's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Garrett Roos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Elysian Fields lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Elysian Fields' win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Waskom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12-1 record this season.
