Volleyball Recap: York Comes Up Short

York was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Poquoson Islanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Islanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

York took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-19.

Rose Fortin paced York's offense, picking up 13 kills. Fortin got some help from Sophia Tschida and her 13 assists. Keira Flowers controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

York's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Poquoson, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. York will take on rival Grafton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Poquoson is set to square off against their familiar foe New Kent at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
