Basketball Recap: Utopia's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Utopia waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over the Medina Bobcats. This was payback for the Buffaloes, who suffered a 65-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Utopia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Leman, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Leman has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jett Smothers, who posted 14 points.

Utopia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Utopia is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Medina, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

Utopia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 82-73 defeat against Rocksprings on the 14th. Medina has also already played their next game, a 47-30 loss against Comstock on the 14th.
