Preview: Essex vs. St. Johnsbury Academy
Essex had trouble last Friday, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against St. Johnsbury Academy at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Essex, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Essex had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 0-21 walloping at Burlington/South Burlington's hands.
Meanwhile, St. Johnsbury Academy faced Hartford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Johnsbury Academy fell just short of Hartford by a score of 33-35.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. We'll see which team satisfies that hunger and which team leaves with an empty belly.
