Basketball Game Preview: Independence 76ers vs. Leland Chargers

The Independence 76ers will venture away from home to square off against the Leland Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Leland likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, Independence got the win against Lincoln by a conclusive 82-59. Given the 76ers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Lions are ranked 860th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Leland waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the Panthers with a 50-45 win.

Independence's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Leland, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Independence strolled past Leland in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 59-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
