Softball Recap: Coquille Takes a Loss

Coquille extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 21-0 to the Glide Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Glide, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

For Glide's part, Aryanna Belloir made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Belloir has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Glide got a massive performance out of Halle Goodman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, Goodman is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. McKenzie Deming also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Glide beat Coquille by a score of 17-2 on Friday.
