Softball Recap: Poynette's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Poynette came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lodi Blue Devils a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Pumas have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Poynette pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lodi, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poynette will head out to challenge Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pumas surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lodi, they will venture away from home to take on Wisconsin Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vanguards have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
