Basketball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. The Academy Wildcats

Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against The Academy Wildcats, falling 66-40. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.

Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Caleb Dudley, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Dudley now owns an excellent 50% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Seth Kissler, who posted six points and eight boards.

CJ Hernandez was nothing short of spectacular for The Academy: he shot 44% from the field to rack up 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Hernandez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedric Rathbun, who went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and five boards.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for The Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Valley has already played their next matchup, a 71-40 defeat against Jefferson Academy on the 13th. As for The Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-46 loss against Eagle Ridge Academy on the 13th.
