The Palmetto Ridge Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Fort Myers Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Palmetto Ridge easily dispatched Lehigh on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bears fell just short of First Baptist Academy by a score of 7-5 on Thursday.
Bryce Obrian was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Tommy Cox made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Palmetto Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Fort Myers won against Naples on Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Green Wave blew past Charlotte 12-5. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Dylan Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ashton Mora was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madrid Tucker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.
Fort Myers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games.
Fort Myers pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Palmetto Ridge, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmetto Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Fort Myers struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
