Eldorado is 8-1-1 against Valley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eldorado Golden Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Valley Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eldorado is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Rio Grande. Eldorado won by a run and slipped past Rio Grande 2-1. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jace Sanchez-Reynolds was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sanchez-Reynolds was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple.
In other pitching news, Cooper Burak tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kavan Salas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Ethan Marquez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Valley got themselves on the board against West Mesa on Tuesday, but West Mesa never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Mustangs.
Like Eldorado, Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Estevan Fernandez. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Fernandez a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jayden Martinez was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Thomas Velarde, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
