Basketball Recap: Newton Gets the Win

After losing to West Jones the last time they met, Newton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Newton Tigers pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over the West Jones Mustangs on Saturday. The 46-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Newton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for West Jones, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Newton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-49 victory against Kemper County on the 10th. West Jones has also already played their next game, a 72-52 defeat against Jim Hill on the 10th.
