Football Game Preview: Jayton Jaybirds vs. Lueders-Avoca Raiders

The Jayton Jaybirds will head out on the road to square off against the Lueders-Avoca Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Jayton's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Jayton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They breezed past Rule to the tune of 66-0. Fans of the Jaybirds have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Meanwhile, Lueders-Avoca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Aspermont, falling 60-6. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Hornets are ranked 100th).

Jayton's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Lueders-Avoca, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Jayton against Lueders-Avoca in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaybirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
