Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Skyline duked it out withBroomfield on Wednesday. The Skyline Falcons were beaten by the Broomfield Eagles 75-38. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Eagles are ranked 34th).

Skyline lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Johnny McCray, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Those seven boards gave McCray a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Gilliam, who put up nine points.

Skyline's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4. As for Broomfield, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Skyline will face off against Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Broomfield, they will host Centaurus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Broomfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Centaurus likes a good challenge.
