Baseball Recap: Grossmont Takes a Loss

Grossmont had taken Helix down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Foothillers fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 5-4. If the Foothillers were looking for revenge after losing 10-4 to the Highlanders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grossmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate McCance, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Grossmont has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Helix, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

While Grossmont had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
