Baseball Recap: Holy Spirit Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Holy Spirit won the last time they faced Lower Cape May and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Spartans have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chase Rubenstein spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Doug Schuster was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Mallen, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Holy Spirit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Holy Spirit has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Lower Cape May, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Spirit will take on Egg Harbor Township at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lower Cape May, they will face off against Atlantic County Institute of Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
