Hopewell is 9-1 against West Charlotte since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Hopewell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Hopewell fell victim to Mooresville and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Blue Devils. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, West Charlotte entered their tilt with West Mecklenburg on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Enijah Gary was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saniyah G, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Taylor B was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
West Charlotte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for West Charlotte, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hopewell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .532. However, it's not like West Charlotte struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
