Recap: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Jay Royals

The Freeport Bulldogs and the Jay Royals squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Freeport Bulldogs had to settle for second. They fell to the Royals 61-57. Freeport has not had much luck with Jay recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Freeport lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jasmine Miles. Despite the final result, she shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Ludwig, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Presley Hawthorne, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six assists. Hawthorne is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubreigh Nelson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Jay, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jay, they will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
