Softball Recap: Westmont Beats Mountain View for Their Third Straight Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Westmont rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mountain View Spartans 2-1. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Regan Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Westmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melia Andrade, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Westmont now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.

Coming up, Westmont will face off against Aptos on Saturday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
