Baseball Recap: Berks Catholic Beats Hughesville for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Berks Catholic had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Hughesville Spartans 1-0 on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Saints, who have now won four matches in a row.

Not much got past Trey Stricker, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Hughesville off the board. Stricker has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Berks Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Curley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Curley is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Berks Catholic's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Hughesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Berks Catholic will square off against Notre Dame-Green Pond on Thursday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. Hughesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
