Baseball Game Preview: Mott Haven Mavericks vs. Morris Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Mott Haven will face off against Morris. The Mavericks will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mott Haven has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 20 straight losses, while Morris will come in with three straight victories.

Mott Haven lost 12-2 to Morris on Tuesday.

For Morris' part, Gustavo Soto made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Soto was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Issac Frias was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Josue Rojas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Morris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Morris' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mott Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
