Basketball Recap: Arizona College Prep Comes Up Short

Arizona College Prep suffered their closest defeat since December 9, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Desert Mountain Wolves by a score of 50-47. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 68-43.

When it comes to explaining why Arizona College Prep lost, don't look at Jaylee Aulds. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. Jesminda Garcia was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Aguirre, who to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Aguirre's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Workman, who had eight points along with nine boards and three steals.

Arizona College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Desert Mountain, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Arizona College Prep beat Desert Mountain by a score of 38-18 on February 20th.
