Football Recap: Jeannette's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Jeannette rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-24 win over the Bentworth Bearcats. The Jayhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bearcats, too.

Jeannette got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kymone Brown out in front who rushed for 123 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 138 yards and one touchdown. The Jayhawks' leading receiver Jayce Powell was Brown's top target yet again, picking up 47 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one TD on the ground.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jeannette was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Noah Sunder, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Bentworth still got an impressive performance from Ben Hays, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 60 receiving yards and one score.

The win (which was Jeannette's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.4 points on average over those games. As for Bentworth, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.

Jeannette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 38-33 defeat against Clairton on the 7th. Bentworth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
