Basketball Recap: West Victorious

West hadn't done well against Walnut Ridge recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The West Cowboys snuck past the Walnut Ridge Scots with a 64-58 victory. This was a revenge game for the Cowboys: when they faced off against the Scots back in January, they had to take a 62-44 loss.

Despite the defeat, Walnut Ridge had strong showings from Roman Crosby, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Marquis Lucas, who posted 17 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Crosby a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Yaire Adams, who had nine points and seven boards.

The win got West back to even at 10-10. As for Walnut Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Looking ahead, West and East will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Walnut Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bexley at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
