Football Recap: Cox Mill Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Cox Mill had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. The match between the Chargers and the Marvin Ridge Mavericks didn't end well, with the Chargers falling 26-7.

Even if they lost, Cox Mill's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Brady Charcut was especially locked on to Marvin Ridge's QB and sacked him twice. Cox Mill got some further help from Jacob Moore: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.

Marvin Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Hawkins led the charge by rushing for 107 yards and one touchdown. Those 107 rushing yards gave Hawkins a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Levi Haines, who picked up 92 receiving yards and one TD.

Cox Mill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-20 win against Rocky River on the 29th. As for Marvin Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 38-12 victory against Ballantyne Ridge on the 29th.
