Basketball Recap: Shenandoah Comes Up Short

If Shenandoah was riding high fresh off their 76-54 takedown of River last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shenandoah Zeps took an 86-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coshocton Redskins on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Zeps can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Redskins are ranked 84th).

Colton Conkle was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 18 boards for Coshocton. The match was Conkle's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Alex Taylor was another key player, going 9 of 11 en route to 21 points.

Shenandoah has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Coshocton, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Shenandoah didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-47 victory against Caldwell on the 28th. As for Coshocton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-40 win against Meadowbrook on the 28th.
