The Clearwater Valley Rams will square off against the Troy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clearwater Valley has four straight victories, Troy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Clearwater Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away Potlatch. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Loggers, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since March 21, 2025.
Conner Christensen spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Clearwater Valley secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Tovin Lundgren, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Troy fell victim to Kendrick and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered against the Tigers since May 11, 2024.
Clearwater Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Troy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clearwater Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Troy struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clearwater Valley got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Troy by a conclusive 17-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
