Baseball Game Preview: Owego Free Academy River Hawks vs. Chenango Forks Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Owego Free Academy will face off against Chenango Forks. The River Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Owego Free Academy has seven straight wins, Chenango Forks has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Owego Free Academy got the win against Chenango Forks by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the River Hawks have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elijah Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conlan Taylor, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Evan English was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Owego Free Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Owego Free Academy pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
