Softball Game Preview: Monroe Redhawks vs. Garinger Wildcats

The Monroe Redhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Garinger Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Monroe hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Monroe lost 18-1 to Central Academy on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Redhawks have lost by exactly 17 runs.

Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Rivera, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Garinger had just enough and edged out West Mecklenburg 19-17 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Garinger, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Everything went Monroe's way against Garinger in their previous meeting back in February, as Monroe made off with a 37-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
