Baseball Recap: Queen's Grant Comes Up Short

Queen's Grant lost against Piedmont Community Charter back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stallions took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 4, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Tyrell Byrd and Max Stathis did some serious damage despite the final result: Byrd scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Stathis scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Byrd has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Ezequiel Abreu was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Queen's Grant's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Piedmont Community Charter, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant will welcome Langtree Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will host Bessemer City at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
