Manchester Academy has gone 8-2 against St. Joseph recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Manchester Academy will square off against St. Joseph at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Manchester Academy has three straight victories, St. Joseph has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Manchester Academy made easy work of Greenville Christian and carried off a 16-2 win. Considering the Mavericks have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jon Parker Dees made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit over his last seven contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Austin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Nixon, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Manchester Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Joseph's offense. They lost 15-0 to Washington on Thursday.
Manchester Academy pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Manchester Academy took their victory against St. Joseph when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Does Manchester Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Joseph turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
